The greater flight accident of last the 25 years


The Spanair MD82 was flying from Madrid to Las Palmas in the Canary Islands when it encountered problems on take off shortly after 2.30pm The plane was all broken apart - it was full of bodies," an eyewitness told Sky.
The aircraft, emblazoned with the orange, blue and white livery of Spain's second-largest airline, was carrying 175 people.

The accident occurred at 14:45 local time during takeoff, according to Spanair. Several other sources give 14:25 as the actual time when the incident happened.
Video taken by the Spanish airport authority AENA shows the engines neither exploded nor caught fire while the Spanair MD-82 was taking off.The aircraft then rolled to the right,was unable to maintain adequate airspeed to prevent altitude loss and crashed in the vicinity of the runway, breaking into at least two parts which were engulfed by the subsequent explosion
